Acupuncture is a component of traditional Chinese medicine. By insertion of very thin sterile needles to acupuncture points on the body, it stimulates meridian pathways which promote the natural healing ability of the body. Many report a sense of relaxation and renewal following a treatment.

Acupuncture can help to treat mental and emotional stress conditions including depression, insomnia and anxiety, allergies and digestive issues, and hormonal imbalances. It can support fertility outcomes and safely support all phases of pregnancy including labor induction. Acupuncture can help to relieve chronic pain symptoms and to promote recovery from surgery or injury.

An acupuncture treatment may include cupping to relieve muscle tension and promote blood flow and cellular repair. Moxibustion therapy is sometimes used to improve cell enzyme activity.

A treatment plan ranges on average 6-8 sessions consecutively. Often a break will follow of at least one week and reassessed determined by your progress.

Sandy graduated as an Acupuncturist from the Pacific College of Holistic Medicine (2017) and is registered in good standing with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia. She holds additional certification in Balance System Acupuncture, which focuses on treating both functional and internal disorders rooted in the ancient concept of healing the body by balancing meridians. Sandy is also certified in Facial Rejuvenation (Cosmetic) Acupuncture, a gentle procedure with minimal side effects that help to reduce fluid retention and puffiness, jaw and forehead tension and to boost collagen and elastin production.

Sandy works with patients recovering from injury or surgery, or who suffer from chronic pain conditions or mental/emotional issues including anxiety and depression. Sandy offers acupuncture to support women’s health including menstrual issues, fertility, IVF support, breech baby, and can safely treat women during all stages of pregnancy.

When necessary, an acupuncture treatment with Sandy may include fire cupping, which is used to treat back and neck pain by loosening local fascia or connective tissue. Cupping increases local circulation, improving cellular metabolism and reducing inflammatory substances.

Sandy believes you don’t need to have a physical condition to benefit from acupuncture. She applies principles rooted in eastern wisdom to support the modern day individual. She will consider your body as a whole system and not just symptoms. An acupuncture treatment plan ranges on average 6-8 sessions consecutively. Often a break will follow of at least one week and then is reassessed determined by your progress.

With an additional background as a yoga instructor (2009) and as a registered holistic nutritionist (2012), Sandy is sure to offer you tools to take beyond the clinic floor.
